Project
IoT Home Monitoring and Control System
Thesis project that became patent IDS000002928
Overview
Each room gets a small ESP-12E node: a motion sensor and solid-state relay for lights, a keypad and lock for the door, an LPG gas sensor in the kitchen. Nodes talk to a server node over the local network; the server talks to the internet with a very small data footprint so it works on cheap connections.
An Android app shows status and toggles devices from anywhere; a Windows application gives a room-by-room dashboard for a home or an office. The hardware can be moved between rooms without reconfiguration. The work placed 1st Runner-Up at a national IoT competition in 2018 and was granted as a simple patent in 2020, with Universitas Lampung as holder.
Highlights
- Client-server topology over Wi-Fi with flexible node placement.
- Android app (Kotlin) for remote monitoring and control.
- Windows dashboard with per-room motion, lock, gas and alarm state.
